Vicar St Mary's Reigate

St Mary’s is a large and lively parish church in the evangelical tradition seeking to be open and accessible to all. We know that God is calling someone who can take us on the next exciting stage of our journey and help us reach out further into our community. We are looking for someone to help us grow in faith and love, leading to a deeper understanding of God’s message for us, our community and our world.

Post Introduction

Situated to the south of London just outside the M25. Many young couples relocate from London to Reigate to start families as the local schools have a good reputation and the area is surrounded by open green spaces. The actual parish of St Mary’s has a population of around 7,000.

Role Responsibility

Essential Characteristics

Strong Strategic leadership, led by God with clear thinking and able to lead a large multi-congregational church, bringing unity and integration across all generations and traditions.

A gifted and inspirational communicator, preacher and teacher of the gospel

The ability to challenge and look and reach outwards stretching the congregation’s horizons and capacity, to be a real and tangible presence in the community.


A committed evangelical able to draw people in and ignite an infectious passion for God.


A skilled enabler and collaborative team worker, with the ability to discover, encourage and develop gifts that enable others to reach their full potential.


The ability to work collaboratively and take the people both staff and laity with them on their journey, being adaptable in their ministry and able to relate nurture and encourage the diverse congregations of St Marys.

Desirable Characteristics

Having worked within a complex dynamic environment in a leadership/oversight role

Experience of ministry within a large church team of staff, lay leaders and ministry leaders.

The sensitivity and confidence to lead people into God’s presence and facilitate the work of the Holy Spirit.
