Assistant Management Accountant (4 days per week)
At the London Diocesan Fund (LDF) we seek to do everything we can to support the mission and growth of the Church of England in London.
The Finance Department at the London Diocesan Fund (LDF) executes and reports on all financial transactions and provides timely, relevant advice to our key customers.
- Paying costs, bringing in the income (combined total c.75m each year).
- Managing the asset base fixed assets, investment, treasury management, working capital - 400m+
- Oversight of controls & risks
The department is the first port of call for parishes with finance or operational queries and all those who have a financial transaction with LDF, or are supported by our advisory work, including Parishes, National Church Institutions, Clergy and London Diocesan Fund staff.
There is a two stage interview process:

The Assistant Management Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting the Management Accountant in the monthly management accounting and production of management reports for various stakeholders.
Working as a member of the finance team he/she will also assist with Management Accounts processes and project based work to be performed as directed by senior managers to support the provision of high quality management and statutory accounts, budgeting and financial analysis to meet stakeholder information requests.
1. Supporting the annual budgeting process
Supporting the Management Accountant in the budget setting process, including the issuing and collating of the budget templates
Developing and maintaining the management accounts reporting layout and accounting codes in Navision with regard to annual budget requirements
2. Supporting monthly Management Accounts processes
Coordination of the monthly management accounts process including setting monthly deadlines and creating task lists to ensure that the accounts are delivered accurately; are relevant for the budget holders needs and are produced promptly.
Supporting and providing resilience for the production of the full monthly Management Accounts pack including the presentation to Management Accountant and the Director of Finance and Operations.
Management of monthly provision of reports to Budget Holders, including:
Variance analysis reports for departmental and area budget holders, capturing explanations and further analysis for all large variances.
3. Finance support for the analysis and processes linking the HR Department, Payroll Officer and Finance team.
Maintaining salary information including reconciliation to payroll journals, forecasting and reporting and assisting the Payroll Officer with the monthly Pension journals and maintaining of spreadsheets
Being the point contact person for HR related queries around salaries budgets and providing assistance with MS Excel and process improvements.
4.Ledger maintenance, analysis and ad hoc reporting
Performing scenario and sensitivity analysis as and when required.
Prepare clear, well written presentations and written reports suitable for stakeholders as required from time to time.
The Ideal Candidate
- Part-Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA)
(As a minimum - must hold the ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business or CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting CIMA )
- In-depth Management Accounting experience
- Proven experience in supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning
- Advanced MS Excel manipulation skills
- Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to use automated systems to improve reconciliation efficiency
- Experience in supporting HR and payroll processes
- Sympathy to the aims and ethos of the work of the Church of England
