Parish of Nursling with Rownhams,

Romsey Deanery

Our verse of 2019: ‘Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.’ Colossians 3:17

A growing parish (current population 5,400, but expanding fast), not far from the South Coast, is looking for an inspirational and visionary vicar to serve our community and build on our evangelical tradition.

We offer:

  • a recently refurbished four-bedroom vicarage in an area with good schools
  • excellent travel connections; the coast and the New Forest are not far away
  • a willing team of staff (including a part time paid Youth and Children’s Minister and Parish Administrator), volunteers and supportive congregations committed to ‘Living the Mission of Jesus’

We are looking for someone who will:

  • be able to work across a diversity of worship styles (traditional to modern)
  • enable us to grow spiritually and in numbers, alongside good Bible teaching
  • be enthusiastic about working with children and young people especially in our church primary schools
  • be able to lead us in exploring creative outreach with those who are not used to ‘traditional church’
  • committed to collaboration with other local churches

Our Vision and Priorities

Within our church family we aim to ‘Live the Mission of Jesus’ and be an active partner in the wider community of which we are part. We hear God’s call to pass on the good news of his love in Christ to a needy world.

Our objectives are:

  • to encourage everyone to grow to be more like Jesus, following him at all stages of their lives
  • to be open to being church in new ways and new places, while affirming and strengthening the old where it is still serving us well
  • to follow the example of Jesus, to bear witness to the God in whom we believe by serving in our working, social and community lives
  • to strive to make the best use of all that God has given us to build up his Kingdom

Our plans for the future include:

  • making and growing disciples with a view to increasing the congregation size
  • encouraging more people to serve in the church community
  • developing our growing youth, children and families work
  • being more prominent within the local community including in our schools
  • showing that we care about the environment
  • revamping our website

Closing date: 27 June 2019

Winchester Diocese

At the heart of our life is the desire to be always Living the Mission of Jesus. We are engaged in a strategic process to deliver a mission-shaped Diocese, in which parochial, pastoral and new forms of pioneering and radical ministry all flourish. Infused with God's missionary Spirit we want three character traits to be clearly visible in how we live:

  • Passionate personal spirituality;
  • Pioneering faith communities;
  • Prophetic global citizens.

The Diocese of Winchester is an exciting place to be right now. With a grant of £4.3m from the strategic Development Fund, we are investing in missional projects across the diocese which are aimed at strategic growth for the common good. We pray that, if God is calling you to join us in his mission here, he will reveal this to you clearly as you consider this post.
