Currently there are two churches – St Saviour Ravensthorpe and Holy Innocents Thornhill Lees. The latter has petitioned for closure because of structural issues with the building and is likely to close in 2019. The two parishes will then unite as one new parish. Both parishes have petitioned for extended episcopal oversight, which, in the Diocese of Leeds, is exercised by The Rt Revd Tony Robinson, Bishop of Wakefield.

We are looking for a male priest with energy, flair and enthusiasm to:

  • Lead and deliver high quality Catholic worship and to help the congregations develop their faith
  • Seek to draw a new generation into the life of the church through building links with the church schools and the uniformed organisations
  • Motivate the people of the newly formed parish to share in the mission of the church, developing the skills strengths and talents of the congregation
  • Work as a senior leader within the community promoting positive interfaith relationships and community cohesion

The ideal candidate would be:

  • A man for whom prayer and spirituality are at the centre of his ministry
  • A priest who will lead by example and act in a way that can teach and inspire
  • A keen visitor committed to becoming a visible presence in the community
  • An enabler of the ministry of the laity

Please see the Person Specification attached for further details of the essential and desirable qualities we are seeking in relation to this post.
