We are a lively body of Christians in the long-standing open evangelical tradition; diverse
in many ways but united in our personal belief in Jesus Christ and in our desire to live lives
that are honouring to God.

Our church family includes residents from within the parish and beyond, with many having begun their journey to Christ outside the Anglican church, people are attracted to worship at St John's by the warm welcome, the family feel , including active Sunday groups for children and a relaxed and relatively informal service style.

We are seeking to discern God’s will for us as a church
• The newly extended parish which now incorporates four schools, increased housing
and a planned care home. We are just beginning to reach out to this area
• Our new hall complex opened two years ago, which is helping us to realise our vision
to reach out to the community. We would like to build closer links with our hall users
Further developing a strong ministry to older people from the congregation and beyond

greater understanding of how the Christian faith can be lived out on a daily basis

• You will have a passion to inspire and grow a strong faith in our children and young people
• You will be flexible and organised to manage the demands of a busy parish
• You will understand the task of leading and working with teams of volunteers in as suburban setting
• You should look to develop creative opportunities for teaching, worship and Bible
study outside the traditional Sunday service times
• You will be able to manage any change sympathetically with a respect for the past,
and enable the church to move forward together

• You will lead our team of clergy, lay readers and other volunteers to share in the planning
and delivery of our services
• You will lead on developing a plan for mission and ministry in our parish and beyond, particularly recognising our newly extended parish and the schools within it
• As line manager for the associate vicar and other paid staff, you will be able to manage and motivate the church’s employed staff
