This is a tailored role responding to the need to deliver a professional communications service– both internally and externally- to the Church Commissioners, Pensions Board and Ethical Investment Advisory Group- as well as providing general media support.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to make a short presentation as part of their interview.

To work as part of the media team delivering key communications objectives in addition to providing specialist media support to the Church Commissioners and Pensions Board.

The main responsibilities for this role are;

  • Proactively identify and maximize PR opportunities for the Church of England’s National Investing Bodies, from news to feature items, to promoting the values and work of the Church.
  • Enable the smooth and efficient running of a financial communications press office, including production of holding and position statements prior to any media interest.
  • Respond professionally and accurately to media enquiries from news organisations and individuals.
  • Build relationships with key financial and specialist journalists who cover the work of the National investing Bodies
  • Project manage and provide oversight of the Pension Board’s annual report – liaising with internal stakeholders, collating and editing content, working with the design agency, and managing budget.
  • Overseeing and supporting website production and updating of Church Commissioners and Pensions Board sections of the Church of England website.

The ideal candidate requirement for this role are;

Essential

Education:

  • Degree Level or equivalent.

Skills/Aptitudes:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Track record of working to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • High level of proficiency with social media and websites.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of working with print and broadcast media.
  • Experience of working with Public Relations.
  • Experience of working in a busy press/media office.

Personal Attributes:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated, self-starter able to use initiative.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • In sympathy with the aims and ethos of the Church of England.

Desirable

Education:

  • Degree level or equivalent in communications or finance related discipline..

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of financial communications
  • Experience of working as a spokesperson for an organisation.
  • Experience of website CMS systems.
