The Bishop of Leicester, in partnership with the Council of the Chaplaincy to the University of Leicester, wishes to appoint a gifted Priest to offer chaplaincy within an exciting academic community with students and staff of all faiths and none; with potential to also exercise leadership of the ecumenical chaplaincy team, if elected from the chaplains’ team.

The University Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy at the University of Leicester is a Local Ecumenical Partnership of ten Christian denominations. The Chaplaincy Team includes Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Quaker, and United Reformed Church members, along with the International Student Chaplain. Role Purpose:

  • Be a part of (and potentially lead, if elected from the chaplains’ team) the pastoral and mission response of the chaplaincy team at the University of Leicester.
  • Contribute to activities for students and staff for their ongoing pastoral support.
  • Engage with senior staff at the University.
  • Interpret faith and belief within the public square and the academy.
  • Build dialogue with faith partners.
  • Foster faith and vocation.
