St Alkmund’s is an evangelical gathered congregation, our worship is Holy Spirit led and informal, we have a worship band but also make use of liturgy and the organ.
Our vision statement is to be resourced by God to be a prayerful, priestly and purposeful people.
Worship as a dynamic experience of the presence of God through the word, sacrament, music, and Christian community.
Welcome so that all are invited to meet Jesus Christ no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.
Empowerment enabling us individually and corporately to discover the power of the Holy Spirit through faith, active in real life.
Growth encouraging and providing opportunities for each person to increase their confidence and joy in Jesus Christ through prayer, bible study and active service in our church, community and the world.
Transformation of society through encounter with the living God.
Derby is a city of 250000 in the East Midlands, famous for our engineering industry and the beautiful Peak District is on our doorstep.
We are a city centre parish and are part of Derby City Deanery. We have a Sunday morning service in church, an evening expression of church meeting in a local pub developing a community for those unchurched and dechurched.
We have activities throughout the week with ministries to schools, university, students, the elderly, pre school children, societies marginalised people, practical hep for the vulnerable in association with the local authority, a community choir, a community craft group.
Our clergy team comprises an associate minister and curate. Our staff team includes a children and families worker, lay pioneer minister to the 18-30 age group, administrator, administrative assistant, friendship group cook, cleaner and caretaker. The post of youth worker is vacant.
We are looking for someone who will lead us into the next phase of our mission to fulfil our values and purpose. We have a clergy, staff and lay volunteers team looking for a senior leader to inspire and challenge us.
