As a nationally and internationally significant religious leader, the Archbishop of Canterbury receives thousands of letters, e-mails, invitations and phone calls from members of the public every year, each of which needs to be carefully examined and an appropriate response given and recorded. The Correspondence Team process and log all correspondence and ensure correspondents receive a helpful, gracious and timely response.
In addition, by its nature and location, Lambeth Palace is seen as an iconic statement of the values and the nature of the Church of England, the Anglican Communion and the ministry of the Archbishop of Canterbury. As a result, the way visitors are welcomed is essential to the witness and ministry exercised or exemplified within its boundaries. As the frequent first point of contact for visitors, the post holder will play a pivotal role in the welcome received at the Palace.
Post Introduction :
In this high profile and key role, you will join our flexible and welcoming team at Lambeth Palace, offering the highest standards of hospitality to our colleagues and guests at all times.
As the first point of contact, you will greet visitors from the reception desk inside the main palace building, exemplifying the warm and inclusive approach that we extend to all.
Dividing and prioritising your time as needed, you will also provide high quality administrative support to the Correspondence Manager, processing the Archbishop's correspondence and assisting colleagues with more general office duties as needed.
Professional, proactive, respectful and courteous, you will be comfortable representing a large and significant organisation and providing an efficient and accurate administrative support service as part of the Archbishop of Canterbury's correspondence team.
This post is offered on a fixed term contract which is expected to last for 12 months.
