We are seeking two half time vicars for the Maghull and Melling Team – one with oversight for Children and Families Mission, the other for Third Age Mission. This profile focuses on the role with oversight for Children and Families Mission.
The Maghull and Melling team was established in 2009 with four parishes that cover a broad range of traditional and modern Anglicanism. Appointed in 2017, the Team Rector has worked to discern and develop a vision for the area. The new team is a result of that discernment. And all members will work collaboratively with others involved in ministry
The Team Vicar for Children and Families Mission will focus on developing mission with children and families.
We have a housing allowance and a possibility for one of the vicars to live in a four bedroom house (if needed)

The modern town of Maghull and Melling village are in a semi-rural and suburban area to the North of Liverpool. Both combine settled populations with a number of new housing developments that bring new people. It’s a mixed income area with most travelling to work across the North West.
The four parishes making up the area are St Andrew’s and St Thomas’ with traditional buildings and Green Park St James’ and St Peter’s who have more modern buildings. The profile explains each location in more detail. The patterns of worship vary across the churches and congregations and include evangelical and middle of the road Anglicanism, with some openness to a more charismatic style of worship.
The Team Vicar for Children and Families Mission will have a pioneering role focussing on developing mission with families and children. They will be looking to grow new leaders and work with our children and families teams, our leader for All Age Services, baptism visitors and the Deanery Children and Families worker. They will also have oversight of our Baptism, Wedding and schools work.
Maghull and Melling is ideally suited for visiting Liverpool and has easy access to North Wales, the Lake District and many of the attractions of the North West.
