Wanted: Children & Families Worker (0.5 Job Share) to join our growing team near Oxford

Work with children & families is well-established in and key to our ministry. Our two villages we serve have grown significantly in recent years, and that growth will continue with another major housing development opening up this year. Regular activities include thriving pre-school groups in both villages and an annual Holiday Club with a strong and committed volunteer base. We work with the primary schools in Harwell & Chilton and the team co-ordinates children's work across our regular range of Sunday services.

Our tradition is "Evangelical & Open-minded," and the central purpose of this role is to give leadership to the work of St Matthew’s Harwell and All Saints’ Chilton amongst children, young people and their families, making disciples of Jesus. This is integral to our shared vision to grow God’s Church, wider, deeper and closer.

The team (including Deborah, who is Parish Administrator and provides ministry support services) has its base in the Church Office at St Matthew's, Harwell. We get together as a full staff team (including our two Associate Ministers Pam and Jan) for lunch and encouragement on Tuesdays. You will be joining a well-established job share with our lead Children & Families Worker Sarah. You can meet Sarah and Jeremy, the Rector, online at www.childrensworker.com.

The ideal candidate will offer the following:

  • A strong Christian faith that inspires you to share the knowledge and love of God through Jesus Christ on the basis of personal experience
  • Confidence in providing oversight for how intergenerational worship develops
  • Excellent communication skills enabling the building of sincere and authentic relationships
  • A desire to keep growing and learning
  • Accountability for themselves and towards others
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a job share

We can offer:

  • A supportive leadership team and church family
  • An environment where learning and professional development is encouraged and supported through paid time
  • A varied and fulfilling role, with some flexibility over your working week

This is a real opportunity to nurture and disciple children, young people and their families in their faith and to serve in a broad and growing community. We’d love to hear from you.
