The Parish of Holmer with Huntington and St. Mary’s Hereford is very much a trinitarian parish – with its three parts being one parish.

As the new vicar you will be responsible for bringing all three parishes together to enable the work of the Lord to prosper within, around and beyond our local communities.

Huntington is a small rural hamlet on the western edge of the City of Hereford, 2 miles from Holmer. There are plans to build 350 houses in the area. Hereford Livestock Market is located just to the North of the church.

Grandstand Road Is a suburban area with high density housing and a wide range of heavy and light industry one mile south of Holmer, and includes the mainly residential areas of Widemarsh, Westfields and Bobblestock. The largest employer in the area is Avara Foods – one of the country’s largest poultry producers.

Holmer Parish, Situated just 2 miles north of Hereford City Centre, Hereford County Hospital, and Hereford Railway Station, the area offers a unique blend of landscapes. From rural pasturelands and wetlands to urban housing estates and industrial plants, the parish showcases a wide spectrum of environments. It straddles major routes leading north to Leominster and Ludlow, as well as east to Worcester and Birmingham

The Dean and Chapter of Hereford Cathedral as Patrons are looking for a Parish priest who can lead this vibrant mission focussed set of churches on the next stage of their journey.

As the new vicar you will be responsible for bringing all three parishes together to enable the work of the Lord to prosper within, around and beyond our local communities.

1. Leadership in mission The role of the new vicar involves leading the church community in defining and upholding its mission and growth vision. .

2. Collaboration, team leadership and ministry development The role of the new vicar involves leading the church as part of a diverse leadership team. They actively identify and nurture ministry gifts within the parish, promoting active participation and providing training and support for laity in various leadership roles.

3. Leading Worship The role of the new vicar involves leading worship with thoughtfulness, competence, and confidence, encompassing a wide range of Anglican practices. They collaborate with others to plan and conduct a worship program that aligns with the church's vision, inspiring and challenging the congregation.

4. Encouraging discipleship The role of the new vicar involves preaching the good news of God's Kingdom, nurturing mature faith by adapting style and content for different occasions.

5. Pastoral care The role of the new vicar includes working collaboratively to identify and address pastoral care needs in the parish and local community. They establish structures and develop skills to effectively respond to these needs.

We are looking for a new vicar who will:

Inspire and engage people of all ages to live out the Gospel message within and beyond the walls of the church

Leading and valuing a Spirit-led ministry

To be able to demonstrate your teaching, mentoring and support skills by discerning and developing skills to enable others to grow

To be able to lead and value a diverse range of teams and understand their dynamics
