LITURGICAL OFFICER – DIOCESE IN EUROPE
The Diocese in Europe hopes to appoint a volunteer liturgical officer, and invites expressions of interest by 30th June to be sent to our Appointments Secretary [europe.appointments@europe.anglican.org] Please include a Curriculum Vitae and a letter explaining what you hope to bring to the post. The role description is below. Please forward this to anyone who might be interested in contributing to the life of our diocese in this way. The expected time commitment is mostly very little, but it is episodic, and may be significant ahead of e.g. engagement at a training conference for IME II. Most work could be done remotely. The appointment is not remunerated, but agreed expenses will be paid. The initial appointment is for 2 years. The Diocesan Bishop will be formally responsible for the appointment. The deadline for expressing interest is 30th June, and any interviews will be held in the weeks after that, by Zoom.
LITURGICAL OFFICER – DIOCESE IN EUROPE
Principal responsibilities
• Be available to offer advice to the Bishops of the Diocese on liturgical matters, including the drafting and updating of diocesan service templates, and the drafting of special liturgical services and prayers.
• Be available to consult with the Suffragan Bishop on faculty matters that relate to matters of liturgical space, art and furnishings.
• Be available to offer advice and collaboration with those responsible for liturgical celebrations at diocesan/archidiaconal/deanery events.
• Maintain the compendium of non-English language liturgical resources which are authorised in the Church of England, or otherwise commended or authorised for use in this diocese. (It will be for other groups/individuals to decide which resources are to be kept.)
• Advise and assist the Director of Ministerial Development in the liturgical formation needs for IME II. • Advise and assist the Director of Reader Ministry in the liturgical formation needs for Readers in Training and Licensed Readers.
• Be available to offer advice to the Bishops of the diocese in matters related to chaplaincy liturgy and worship.

Desirable Qualifications
• Graduate degree in liturgical studies, pastoral ministry, theology, or related field is preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Liturgical Resources available to the Church of England, and a commitment to keep up-to-date with current developments and thinking on liturgy and worship in the Church of England, the Anglican Communion and the wider Church.
• Some familiarity with our European context. • Strong understanding of cross-cultural liturgical issues
