£28 – £30,000 per annum (£16,800 – £18,000 pro rata) depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced and organised professional to lead the governance of our safeguarding function and assist our safeguarding team.

Through the implementation of newly agreed plans in each of our regional Deaneries, the Diocese is, like the Church of England, undergoing a period of transformational change. The need to retain and develop our safeguarding practices and processes at the heart of these changes is key .Good governance and good data management is an essential part of this. To do this you will be reliable with a systematic approach to work and attention to detail. This is a role for someone who is confident in understanding and applying policies and procedures, and in helping others to do this. An interest in, and ability to manage data is key. The data we use tends not to be that complex but it really matters.

The Officer will be a vital member of our safeguarding team, promoting best practice in all matters relating to safeguarding in the diocese. This will include supporting parishes, clergy, and Cathedral staff.

This is an interesting opportunity for the right person who has a governance background to grow and develop in a complex, challenging and undoubtedly rewarding work environment. A history in either safeguarding is preferred as is experience in data protection but for the right person we can provide training and support to top up skills.

At the Diocese of Truro, we really value work-life balance and employee wellbeing, have a friendly and supportive working environment and are committed to encouraging your development. We offer benefits to such as a range of wellbeing activities, flexible working, up to 26 days leave and a Pension Scheme with 9-15% employer contribution.
