Bristol Cathedral is looking to recruit a Visitor Experience Education Officer to create and deliver outstanding experiences for children and young people.

The Education Officer will facilitate and provide activities of outstanding quality for children who come to the Cathedral, whether they are on a school visit or visiting the Cathedral with their family.

The Visitor Experience Education Officer will play a key role within the Cathedral’s Visitor Experience Department and will be responsible for:

  • Planning and facilitating school trips
  • Programming children and young peoples’ activities for key points in the Christian year such as Easter and Advent
  • Writing trails and activity sheets for families visiting the Cathedral
  • Organising and facilitating school holiday activities
  • Supporting the wider visitor experience initiatives at the Cathedral such as exhibitions and events

The Cathedral’s Visitor Experience team is made up of a Visitor Experience Director, a Visitor Experience and Events Officer and a Lord Mayor's Chapel Visitor Experience Officer, and the new post holder will work closely within the team. The successful candidate will have exceptional people skills, a can do approach and the ability to think creatively when problem solving.

Bristol is the largest city in the South West and the Cathedral is set on College Green, at the centre of this modern, vibrant and diverse city. The city has much to celebrate and enjoy – with a vigorous business and cultural life and a strong festival tradition. Originally a trading and merchant port it has become a centre for financial and business services, creative industries, distribution and retail. The population is increasingly young and there is a strong BME population. The Cathedral has been a Christian presence in the city for nearly 900 years and is part of the wider Diocese of Bristol which extends from Swindon through South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. We want to reach out to the city and make people welcome.

Our vision is to:

  • Follow Jesus Christ
  • Serve Others
  • Transform Communities
  • Worship God and
  • Support our Bishops and Diocese

The Cathedral has four values which are to be Open, Generous, Creative and Brave. We expect all members of the Cathedral team to act in a way that reflects these values.
