  • A Parish including one of England's largest Parish Churches which attracts c.70,000 visitors annually
  • A vibrant multi-lingual town where strong partnerships are forged
  • A diversely skilled staff team supported by dedicated volunteers
  • Newly refurbished town centre community hub with dedicated Song School and meeting facilities
  • An historic yet thriving choral tradition which promotes excellence, equal access and mission growth through our own choirs and central facilities but also via diverse school and community outreach projects
  • A Parish fully engaged in social action in the community (Boston Foodbank, Mental Health Cafe, Warm Space Initiatives and other partnership working)
  • A financially secure parish with a sustainable future

The priest will need to be an intrinsic team player, who is nourished and enriched by the ministry, lay and ordained, of others. They will need to be truly collaborative and trust their team. The Parish of Boston needs a person who not only shares this vision but can enthusiastically develop and take a lead on it.

The next Rector of Boston will be an ordained person who will:

  • be able to demonstrate the leadership of an accomplished pastor and will offer visible pastoral nurturing in all our churches.
  • be spiritually mature and prayerfully minded with an ability to identify others to help support mission and ministry in the parish.
  • be able to demonstrate their complete commitment to working within and leading a team. They should be able to demonstrate the skills needed, both emotional and practical, for this ministerial context.
  • be liturgically creative and confident. They will have experience of fresh expressions of worship and, with others, they will want to develop imaginative forms of worship in the churches. Someone who has an ability to design and lead modern worship and new expressions that are contextually appropriate.
  • be supportive of our rich, living choral heritage and its key role in both mission and ministry within the parish and local community.
  • lead with the wider strategic opportunities for mission and ministry of the church and represent the Church within the wider life of the civic, commercial and third sector organisations of the local authority.
  • be able to develop an overarching focus on theological education for the parish and community.
