Consultant

The Diocese of Truro wants to ensure that all our clergy have access to pastoral supervision, and the support, encouragement, personal and professional development and accountability that this offers. To help us achieve this, we have initiated a pilot supervision project in 2023 to sit alongside good practices in recruitment, induction and our other ministry training and development opportunities (see here) We are now looking for experienced, caring and skilled professionals to help us make this pilot a success.

Pastoral Supervision is a structured process of reflective learning in which a supervisor meets with a supervisee, or small group of supervisees, to develop and support learning skills, understanding, and good practice. It will take place within a framework of spiritual understanding and prayer, care, trust, and openness.

This is a consultancy opportunity and requires someone experienced and trained in supervision. Membership of a professional body, relevant insurance are essential. Ultimately we need someone with an empathetic but assertive approach that brings tangible results.

We will pay £50 per hour for individual supervision and £75 for small group work (max 3-4 people). Some of the work may be online but initially and ongoing there is an expectation of in-person delivery. The initial contract is 12 months.

Any appointment as a Pastoral Supervisor will be subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and a basic DBS check.

To arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact, Diocesan Director of Ordinands Jane Vaughan-Wilson JvWilson@truro.anglican.org or Sally Piper, Head of Ministry sally.piper@truro.anglican.org

If you are interested in working with us in this capacity, please send an up to date CV and covering letter. Your letter should include your reasons for applying, and your theoretical approach. Please send your application to sally.piper@truro.anglican.org by midday on Monday, 5 June 2023.

We plan to hold interviews on Tuesday, 13 June and/or Wednesday, 14 June 2023 either online or at Church House, Woodside Court, Threemilestone, Truro TR4 9NH.
