Founded in 676AD it is one of the five senior dioceses of the Church of England. The Diocese consists of about two thirds of the County of Hampshire and most of Bournemouth in the County of Dorset, excluding Portsmouth and the area immediately to its north and north-east.

Stretching from the beaches of Bournemouth to the edges of Surrey suburbia, and from the River Hamble to the outskirts of Newbury, the area covers 1048 square miles with a population of 1.27m. Whilst much of the diocese is rural there are significant urban concentrations in Southampton, Eastleigh, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Andover and Basingstoke.

Houses Assistant

Alresford, Winchester

35 hours per week – Salary £18,908pa

(plus 15% pension contribution)

We are seeking a Houses Assistant to join the Parish Support Team which is responsible for managing and maintaining a large number of properties across the Anglican diocese of Winchester. This positon will take responsibility for the daily processes to assist and support the Houses Team.

Must be highly organised with excellent IT skills, a good team player, enthusiastic and able to work to deadlines.

Responsible to: The Houses Manager


The Parish Support team brings together a range of areas of work including:

  1. Common Mission Fund support
  2. Synodical Governance
  3. Stewardship
  4. Clerical Registry
  5. Property
  6. DAC
  7. Pastoral
  8. Office support and services

The configuration of the team is designed to recognise that all the areas of work have the same basic purpose – to support good management and compliance at every level of our diocesan structures in order to create a strong foundation on which mission and ministry can be built. As well as seeking to reduce the heavy burden (both in terms of time and finance) that statutory requirements can place on parishes and volunteers, the team looks to develop creative new ways of working, growing the gifts and opportunities that exist across the dioceseMain Purpose: To take responsibility for the daily processes to assist and support The Houses Team
