The post of Pioneer Priest for Kerrier Deanery is a ground-breaking appointment in a stunning part of Truro Diocese in South West Cornwall.

We are looking for a Pioneer Priest to minister across this rural deanery. Led by our newly appointed Rural Dean, our Pioneer Priest will be a key member of a new and vibrant team, to include a full time Social Justice Lead and part time Leads in Pastoral Care and Children, Youth and Family Ministry.

We are looking for a Pioneer Priest:

  • To act as an enabler and communicator for pioneering values and the importance of cross-cultural and inter denominational, contextual mission
  • To missionally listen in a rural context and develop and encourage pioneer fresh expressions
  • To take a lead in evangelism, inspiring, helping and challenging the Christian community to fulfil the Great Commission
  • To identify and nurture new pioneers and equip and to develop and enable teams to lead emerging fresh expressions
  • To take primary responsibility for growth in discipleship, facilitating and enabling the local church to grow in faith and reach out to grow faith in the lives of others
  • Have a pioneering approach to mission & evangelism. Experience of creating & leading new worshipping communities of pioneering projects in the community.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of people, both lay & ordained, to enable ministry opportunities to flourish.
  • A missional mindset for ministry which seeks to nurture and develop Christ-centred relationships and acts upon all opportunities to grow the church spiritually and numerically.
  • Be excited by the opportunities of rural ministry, whilst being realistic about the challenges.
  • Experience & joyful acceptance of a variety of forms of worship.
  • Be a confident & compelling preacher & teacher, able to embrace & adapt to different contexts & traditions, able to demonstrate excellence as a leader in ministry & mission to grow the church.

We will be a church dedicated to worshipping and following Jesus, growing together in faith and discipleship, and working actively to support the people we live among. We will work together in the Deanery and work with other agencies in our Deanery and beyond, as we serve our local communities and care for the vulnerable.
