The Cathedral is the mother-church of Chichester Diocese, the seat of the Bishop of Chichester and is above all, a centre for worship, mission, evangelism and discipleship.

The Cathedral is also an internationally renowned centre for the arts and has a long and rich heritage of ground-breaking artistic patronage.

As we approach the 950th anniversary of the Cathedral’s relocation to Chichester, the Cathedral Chapter are looking to re-engage the city and diocese that we serve in Jesus Christ’s name.

The role of Communar (COO) bears a breadth of operational responsibility that is second to none. It bridges the sacred and the secular and brings together a wide range of varied stakeholders under the common goal of helping more people to know, love and follow Jesus.

Reporting to the Dean but serving Chapter, this is one of the most senior lay roles at the Cathedral and is pivotal to the smooth functioning of the Cathedral. No two days are ever the same!
