We also seek to bring transformation through our church planting strategy, employing a stream of planting curates who spend 2 to 3 years at Preston Minster before planting a church in or beyond Preston. We consider it a huge success to send members of our congregation with planting curates to plant new churches.

While holding responsibility for Operations, team members are expected to be actively involved in the life of Preston Minster beyond their area. A commitment to this is vital. You will find yourself serving beyond your role in order to help people find their home, find their purpose and transform their city.

The purpose of your role will be to ensure the smooth running of all operational activities at Preston Minster.

A key aspect of this role is volunteer recruitment, development, management and deployment. You will seek to release volunteers to assist in the operational life of the Minster.

• General

• Support the Senior Leadership Team in delivering it’s vision, mission and goals.
• Manage the day to day operations of the church.
• Hold responsibility for the implementation and development of the operational calendar.
• Collect and collate data for relevant stakeholders, tracking the progress of the church.
• Organise timely paperwork and reports for various meetings
• Oversee the governance structure at the Minster.

Estates

• Oversee facilities and ensure the site is maintained to a high standard.
• Oversee health & safety and risk management.
• Oversee the church’s IT systems and infrastructure.

Finance

• Day to day oversight of finances in conjunction with the SLT, Treasurer and Finance Team.
• Oversee monthly Payroll and bookkeeping.
• Manage church budgets.
• Work with our accountants to prepare annual accounts.

People

• Work with the Senior Leader to recruit new members of staff and volunteers.
• Oversee the performance management process (alongside SLT) to measure and evaluate staff progress against the strategic goals for the church.
• Work with out HR specialists to ensure all church policies, staff handbook, are up to date and compliment with charity and employment law.

Safeguarding

• Work with the Safeguarding Officers to ensure the church is compliant with all relevant safeguarding practices.
• Oversee and be responsible for the DBS process.

Requirements and skills

• Proven work experience as Operations Manager or similar role
• Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
• Experience budgeting and forecasting
• An understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
• Familiarity with business and financial principles
• Excellent communication skills
• Leadership ability
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Outstanding organisational skills, able to set priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to develop the skills of support staff
• Degree in Business, Operations Management or related field
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to many different people
• Has strong communication skills
