Office Holder

Lancaster Priory is seeking to appoint an associate priest who will play a critical role in the future ministry and outreach of this vibrant and energetic inclusive Catholic parish.

Lancaster Priory is at the beginning of a new phase in mission and ministry, following the arrival of a new incumbent in September 2021 and following the launch of a new vision in November 2022.

The PCC has identified four missional priorities that are key in the next 5 years:

1- Inspiring new generations.

2- Growing deeper roots on the Marsh.

3- A Resource for the City, Diocese and Region

4- Caring better for God’s Creation

All of these priorities are starting from good foundations and with varying energy and commitment within the congregation and wider parish.

In order to develop other priorities and maintain the enthusiasm and momentum gained in the last 12 months, the Priory is seeking to recruit an associate priest to work as part of a revitalised ministry team (lay and ordained) over the next five years.

This role will have primary responsibility for delivering two of these priorities. Alongside priority four (Caring better for God’s creation) we are seeking a candidate to lead on priority two: Growing Deeper Roots on the Marsh.

There is a desire to engage in distinctively Christian outreach and to build a new Christian worshipping community on the Marsh Estate that is both rooted in the context of the Marsh and supported and resourced by the Priory as a vibrant part of their parish. This would build on the existing Sunday afternoon congregation and the ministry of the community worker to reach out in mission and evangelism to the Marsh.

This is an opportunity for a collaborative, energetic priest at the end of curacy. Candidates with a heart for ministry in a parish context, who would value experience of the renewal of discipleship, mission and ministry in an inclusive catholic setting are encouraged to apply.

Please see the application pack for more information.

Applications close on the 2nd February and interviews will be on the 24th of February.
