The Tresham Benefice has five Churches that are alike in many ways but with diverse congregations and differing types of Services. The Eucharist is at the heart of our worship. Each Parish has its own characteristics, Rothwell is a small but busy market town, Loddington, Thorpe Malsor, Rushton and Pipewell are all rural villages.

Welcome to our Tresham Benefice Profile and the Tresham Benefice. We hope that you will enjoy reading about the Benefice and our journey in faith. The Benefice has five Churches that are alike in many ways but with diverse congregations and differing types of Services. The Eucharist is at the heart of our worship. Each Parish has its own characteristics, Rothwell is a small but busy market town, Loddington, Thorpe Malsor, Rushton and Pipewell are all rural villages.

Our last Vicar has retired and we are looking forward to welcoming a new Vicar who will value how our congregations already participate in Services and who will support, encourage and help us to develop; and will also help us face the challenge of building up our congregations and making the Church relevant outside celebratory life events.

We can offer you the friendship and support of the Churchwardens and the PCCs and a warm welcome from all our congregations. Our teams of volunteers are ready and willing to continue to assist the smooth running of the Benefice. All of us are eager to step into the future with a new incumbent and we hope that you will learn more about us from the Profile.

Our vision is to present the Christian Faith in a lively accessible way. We aim to engage with all and establish even greater participation within our benefice community.

We look to achieve this vision by:

  • Continuing a regular pattern of Services within the benefice but being prepared to accommodate change.
  • Encouraging our younger members to continue attending Church.
  • Developing a stronger system of pastoral care for those who need more support.
  • Extending our outreach to those who have left the Church and to those who have not yet come to meet us.

We need a person who has experience of:

  • Working within a Benefice with diverse styles of worship based around Common Worship
  • Working with and supporting children and young people
  • Strong pastoral skills

And the ability to:

  • Guide our enthusiasm to build a strong team
  • Enable vocations
  • Encourage our talents and help us realise our potential
  • make everyone feel cared for and to guide our enthusiasm
  • Use IT appropriately

We need a priest:

  • Who will “pray without ceasing”, whose physical and emotional energy is combined with an enthusiastic freshness, loving-kindness, warmth, sense of humour, open-mindedness and tolerance
