Job Summary:

The main aim of the role is to manage and maintain all Micah Food Aid activities, including Foodbanks & Community Markets.

The role is responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteers to work as part of the Micah team.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining relationships with donors, charities, schools & businesses. The role will assist in the management of all social media accounts for the programme across a variety of platforms and good IT skills and experience are required in order to input and record foodbank statistics.

The role holder will be an ambassador for Micah with exceptional customer service skills and excellent team-working abilities across Micah and the wider Cathedral team.

The post holder must be in sympathy with the aims and ethos of the Church of England.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Key daily tasks:

  • Be enthusiastic and professional and deliver a high standard of customer service at all times
  • Display a positive “can do” attitude and look for more efficient and effective ways of working
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with partners and donors.
  • Contacting volunteers by phone, e-mail or face-to-face
  • Completing questionnaires and feedback forms with foodbank users
  • Managing Foodbanks
  • Managing Community Markets
  • Recording personal details of foodbank users
  • Update and maintain foodbank database
  • Recording Social Value and helping to formulate a Social Value plan
  • Assisting with social media on multiple platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Buffer
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information
  • Maintaining a tidy working environment for both colleagues and customers
  • Operate in accordance with the Cathedral’s Health & Safety policies
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with colleagues, partners, members of the congregation and visitors and at all times act as the Cathedral’s Ambassador
  • The post holder will undertake other relevant duties as may be requested from time to time and commensurate with the role.

Essential requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 equivalent
  • Experience in recruiting through various channels
  • Previous experience supporting volunteers
  • A basic understanding of “Social Justice”
  • Knowledge of Social Media platforms
  • Awareness of Health & Safety
  • Data Processing experience
  • An ability to prioritise a variety of jobs
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
  • Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
  • A pleasant, outgoing personality
  • Ability to work as a member of team
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Problem-solving skills

Desirable requirements

  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Packages specifically Access & Excel

Micah Liverpool is a social justice charity that has been set up by Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and St Bride’s Church to relieve Liverpool residents from social injustice and poverty. We are currently running projects to combat unemployment and deliver emergency food aid and affordable food.
