Since 2014 the Church of England in Cumbria has been working with ecumenical partners to implement the shared Vision and Strategy “God for All”. http://www.godforall.org.uk/

The goal of this ambitious strategy is for “Everyone in Cumbria, of all ages and backgrounds, to know more of God and God’s purpose for their lives”. It involves reimagining local ministry and church structures through the establishment of Mission Communities and renewing the church’s emphasis on four aspects of mission and outreach:

  • MeReach: individuals sharing faith through everyday life
  • InReach: church communities becoming more welcoming and drawing people in
  • OutReach: reaching out into communities beyond the fringe through pioneering and innovative fresh expressions of church
  • BigReach: using marketing and digital media to stimulate people to think about where God is in their life

God for All is being implemented as a major change programme, sponsored by the 4 partner denominations (Church of England, Methodist Church, United Reformed Church and the Salvation Army) and working with a number of other “companion churches”.

To contribute to the effective oversight and management of the implementation of God for All so that the programme makes agreed progress towards agreed objectives and milestones.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

The Programme Officer will play a key Support and Implementation Role in the delivery of God for All. Responsibilities will include:

  • supporting the Programme Manager and Programme Director generally across all areas of the Programme including governance, stakeholder engagement, communication, risk management, planning and co-ordination
  • specifically supporting the Programme Manager and Programme Director in:
  • maintaining & updating the Programme plan/timeline
  • monitoring, reporting and reviewing the effectiveness of initiatives / projects
  • reviewing progress with Strategy Development Officers and other strand owners
  • accounting for risk mitigation and issue resolution
  • managing God for All communications including advising and supporting the Diocesan Communications Manager in delivering the communications strategy
  • helping ensure effective, creative, collaborative project-based working across a wide range of initiatives
  • contributing towards creating a culture and approach of creative, collaborative project-based working

The Programme Management Officer will be directly accountable for:

  • enabling the formation of project teams and coaching & supporting teams in agile, creative project-based ways of working
  • tracking key programme risks and maintaining the God for All risk register
  • capturing programme issues and ensuring they are addressed and maintaining the God for All issues log
  • tracking programme outcomes
  • collecting, collating and presenting information as part of project/programme reporting and monitoring & evaluation
  • change control management
  • monitoring project budgets and the programme’s budget
  • maintaining project standards and sharing good practices
  • providing the secretariat for the God for All Strategy Steering Group and Implementation Group
  • handling God for All related correspondence

Essential Criteria

  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office
  • Recent experience of using IT to support project-working, collaboration and remote-working
  • Experience of working in a Programme Management Office (PMO) role or environment.
