The vision of the Diocese of Chichester is to help people within the Diocese to know, love and follow Jesus. Based at the Diocesan Office at Church House, Hove, we serve the people of the Diocese across more than 360 parishes, more than 150 church schools and the wider community as a whole.

We wish to appoint a Schools Effectiveness Officer to join our Education Team to provide support, training, and advice to school leaders, governors and clergy working within all Church of England schools and academies in the central and eastern area of the Diocese of Chichester.

The post holder will be a key member of the Diocesan Board of Education school improvement team and will work with all types of schools in the Diocese to drive progress and raise standards by helping schools to maintain good practice and develop new initiatives.

Your duties will include:

  • Working with an allocated range of diverse Church of England schools in the diocese to provide advice and support to school leaders to identify and implement strategies for raising the quality of teaching learning and improving pupil progress.
  • Creating opportunities to build trusting and effective relationships with school leaders that will equip them to have the greatest impact on their communities possible.
  • To provide support for church primary schools and academies in their preparation for, and response to, Ofsted and SIAMS inspections
  • To assist in providing advice on making Headteacher and senior appointments

We are seeking a candidate who will:

  • Have proven experience of at least one successful headship and/or Local Authority school improvement work within Education
  • Be SIAMS Inspector trained (or willing to undertake training)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the excellence and distinctiveness of our church schools
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Work to the highest professional standards
  • Have a heart to serve our school communities

The role is home based and we are flexible regarding how and when the hours are spread within the working week.
