We are seeking a servant-hearted, Bible-teaching man of prayer who will be at the centre of our ministry, serving seaside communities in Thanet on the Northeast tip of Kent.

St James’ Church is a conservative evangelical and reformed church, seeking in all we do to be under the word of God. The parish is largely residential and includes Garlinge Primary School, with which we have good links.

We are a small, committed congregation who meet regularly for prayer and bible study (and sometimes for a BBQ!). Our Church building is in good condition, and we have plans to upgrade it as finances allow (the recent sale of the old school hall will help). The attached Church Centre was extensively refurbished in 2020, leading to encouraging community use.

We are well aware of the challenges facing us, and seek God’s way forward as we serve our part of Thanet alongside our fellow Christians.

Our priorities for our new minister are:-

• developing and enhancing the unity and teamwork that has come out of our time of vacancy
• developing our gifts and relationships with others in order to reach out with the gospel to our community
• helping us to apply the Bible and encouraging a greater commitment to God and the church
• making time for pastoral care of the congregation
• a man who will be willing to engage with other clergy in the Thanet Deanery.
