Introducing the Post

St Peter’s is a single church parish, one of four Anglican parishes in Darwen, close to Blackburn, Lancs. We’re a parish in the Liberal Catholic tradition which fully affirms the ministry of women at all levels in the Church.

Situated right at the heart of the town, St Peter’s is the Parish Church of Darwen. Being an active, welcoming Christian presence in our wider community is a very important part of our mission. We welcome without exception everyone who wishes to join us in worshipping and serving our Lord.

We are seeking a person of God who will lead, support and inspire us to be the best St Peter’s Church can be for the people of our own parish and the wider community, now and into the future, working to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the present and next generations in Darwen and to help all come to a place of trust in God.

We’re a church with strong connections with our local community and have close involvement with our linked primary schools. We’re a home for local groups and activities. We love our town and our town loves us.

Who is God Calling to St Peter’s?

We hope for –

  • a priest who enjoys and promotes a variety of worship styles – we’d like to explore messy church and healing services, for example
  • someone who will build on the legacy of the past but will inspire and assist us to move forwards, building on the past
  • a priest willing to engage with the wider community in our town and to assist us to respond to their needs
  • someone who will regard working with our children and young people and schools as a priority
  • a person who knows how to delegate appropriately but not burden, and to grow new leaders and to bring out the best in other people in the service of God
  • someone who will help us to continue with and complete the review of our Vision plan and then implement it
  • ideally, a person who is comfortable with technology and social media.
