Boughton under Blean
Office Holder

We are seeking an energetic, collaborative and outreach-focused Parish Priest, firm in their Christian faith and good at communicating it.

Boughton with Dunkirk, Hernhill and Goodnestone with Graveney are three parishes between Canterbury and Faversham, working together as one church, rooted in the communities we serve, and providing a wide variety of worship and fellowship.

The church family includes a wide variety of skills, and is highly committed. It includes two Readers, three churchwardens and a number of experienced lay members, working together as a team. There are many challenges, but this is a lively benefice, with lots going on, a strong faith and a commitment to work together constructively. There is an established pattern of services with rich variety and an openness to modify our approach to meet changing needs.

With schools, pubs and shops in the benefice, as well as a range of beautiful church buildings, there are all sorts of opportunities to engage with our diverse communities. We seek God’s way forward as we serve our part of Kent alongside our fellow Christians.

Our priorities for our new Priest will, among other things, be:-

  • Firmly rooted in God’s Word in daily life as well as church life through their words and example.
  • Committed to seeing God’s kingdom expand and “feeding the flock” through scriptural teaching, prayer and all kinds of worship.
  • Someone who leads by example and is also good at organising, guiding and delegating - without being expected to do everything!
  • Fun to be around with a good sense of humour.
  • People-focused with a caring, kind, gentle and compassionate heart.
  • Humble, thoughtful, approachable, prayerful and a good listener.
  • Community minded and mission focused.
  • Willing to join in village life with enthusiasm, developing good relations within the villages and especially with their three schools.

Closing date: Sunday 15th May
