Job Purpose: To assist The Director of Social Justice, Together Liverpool, Liverpool Cathedral and associated charities and churches to effectively develop and deliver the Network of Kindness and Fit for Mission 2.
We are looking for a Project Research Assistant who has a heart for social justice and wants to equip an enable flourishing networking practices with a particular focus on disability and access, racial justice, poverty and life chances, modern slavery, fairness and wellbeing. This person will be well organised and efficient, and have good presentation and IT skills. S/he will utilise well developed research and data analysis skills to equip colleagues and deepen knowledge within the team. S/he will be a self-starter with and flare for communicating ideas and a sharing good practice.
The Project Research Assistant will contribute to a small team of highly skilled agile social justice practitioners under the oversight of the Director of Social Justice. S/he will be a collaborative colleague who can support the social justice work of the Diocese, Together Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral to take the next step toward the realisation of its mission to establish the Network of Kindness across the geographical area of the Diocese of Liverpool.

Working with Director of Social Justice to facilitate the next phase of the development of the Network of Kindness and Fit for Mission 2 across the Diocese of Liverpool
To assist the Director of Social Justice to keep good records, manage events and diaries, prepare papers for meetings and keep notes of relevant meetings and events
To participate in the development of projects, assist in writing funding bids and develop new ways of working alongside the Director of Social Justice, Together Liverpool partnership, the Liverpool City Region and diocese.
Assist the Project Development Lead Officer in the mapping existing activity and keeping proper records for evaluation of impact.
Offering support, and where appropriate creating content, for the maintenance of the online resource through the Diocese of Liverpool website and bulletin in partnership with the Operations Lead officer of Together Liverpool.
To assist the Director of Social Justice to develop good working relationships with VCFSE sector, assist in maintaining relationships with community projects, campaigning groups, activists and churches and other faith groups and people of good will.
Assisting the Director of Social Justice to deliver appropriate research and other projects when required (with a particular focus on disability and access, racial justice, poverty and life chances, modern slavery, fairness and wellbeing).
Undertaking other relevant tasks relating to the Diocese of Liverpool, Liverpool Cathedral and Together Liverpool Network, from time to time, as the line manager and the scheme steering group see fit, but with any significant variations to be discussed and agreed in advance.
Other tasks include:
Regular 1 to 1 meetings with Line Manager
Contribute to the strategic aims of the Social Justice work of the Diocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral
BA hons in relevant subject
Experience of working as a researcher and/or project development in the area of Social Action
Excellent communication skills with an ability to engage with people effectively at all levels Good time management
Uses the Internet to a very competent level
Uses Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp and other virtual meeting platforms at a very competent level
Has experience of devising and delivering training
Has operational ability of Microsoft office packages and Outlook
Has ability to handle a range of diverse tasks and prioritise according to demands
Has research skills and capacity to contribute to the writing of strategic and briefing papers for lead officers and Bishops.
Pays close attention to detail
Has ability to deal with personal information maintaining strict confidentiality
Demonstrates a friendly, sensitive, co-operative and diplomatic manner
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Works well within a team environment

Postgraduate qualification (or in the process of completing)
Some research experience and ability to deal with data and primary research materials.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the structures, values and aims of Together Liverpool
Has an awareness of the social, political and cultural landscape of the Liverpool City Region and Diocese of Liverpool
A personal commitment to work against poverty and initiate measures to combat disadvantage
