Emmanuel Church Stoughton are looking for a new incumbent to grow the ministry both within our church and our community. The church is deeply rooted in its community and sits prominently on a crossroads a couple of miles north of the centre of Guildford, a lively University town of around 150,000 people, only 35 minutes from London by train and surrounded by the beautiful Surrey Hills.

Guildford is a privileged area with low unemployment and high home ownership. Stoughton is a less affluent area with a population of around 12,000, itself bordered by two less prosperous parishes. The parish is popular with young, first-time buyers but has a wide range of housing.

• Someone who is Spirit-filled, who will lead us deeper in prayer, worship and mission and help us to remember God’s purposes and priorities in all aspects of church life.
• Someone who is inspiring and motivational. From their public speaking and private conversations, we can’t fail to catch a glimpse of God’s vision for our church.
• Someone who is a faithful teacher and engaging preacher, to help us to connect what we read in the Bible with our everyday lives and help us to respond to God’s call even when this is challenging.
• A visionary who can discern the big picture and actively participate in delivering the vision but also is able to delegate, collaboratively working alongside and drawing in the whole congregation to play their part.
• An experienced leader with a servant-heart who will collaborate with, mentor and grow our staff team to help them lead and champion the church’s key ministries. They will help the wider church family to understand and develop their gifts and use them in church life.
• A strategic thinker who can help us together develop a clear vision for growth in our outreach and mission.

We believe that these qualities are likely to be found in a man or woman who is self-aware and emotionally intelligent, as well as humble, compassionate and approachable.
