Office Holder

The Parishes of St Mark’s Basford and St Margaret’s Wolstanton are located in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire.

Although not a formal joint benefice, your time will be split equally between both parishes and will give you a fairly unique opportunity to engage in both the Catholic liturgy at St Margaret’s alongside the central Anglican tradition of St Mark’s.

We look forward to welcoming applications from confident, enthusiastic and Spirit-filled candidates who can:

  • bring the Gospel to life, reflecting on its relevance for contemporary discipleship;
  • preach and communicate effectively to people of all ages;
  • engage with our local schools, especially our Church school;
  • further develop our pastoral work in homes and care homes;
  • value the central Anglican and Catholic traditions of our churches;
  • guide us as we learn from our experiences as churches during the pandemic;
  • nurture and develop the relationship between the two parishes.

About the Diocese

Lichfield Diocese is one of the most diverse dioceses in the country. Rolling countryside and vibrant inner-city life nestle together in a region that takes in Staffordshire, the Potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, most of Shropshire and bustling Black Country centres including Walsall and Wolverhampton. The only thing we don’t have is the sea!

Our shared diocesan vision extends an invitation to all to “Come follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad”.

As we follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, we pray that the two million people in our diocese encounter a church that is confident in the gospel, knows and loves its communities, and is excited to find God at work already in the world. We pray for a church that reflects the richness and variety of those communities and partners with others in seeking the common good, working for justice as a people of hope.
