Benefice of Stoke by Nayland with Leavenheath and Polstead, and Nayland with Wissington
Office Holder

We welcome applications from those in Ministry committed to lead, enrich and sustain a group of parishes working hard to reach out to all in our Stour Valley communities at an important stage of our development as a united benefice.

We value a positive and skilful approach to the purposes of this role, and in particular seek a candidate who is comfortable with their own spirituality and with the energy and imagination to support this in others. Being responsive to the times and the challenges these present for the Church should be reflected in their confidence as being a visible presence in our differing local communities, with their varied forms of worship and patterns of rural and semi-urban life.

Experience of reaching out effectively to engage younger people, particularly working with the three schools in our midst, and with families as a force for change in our congregations is very much welcomed. We recognise this work is a vital part of the new partnership we seek, working together with our Ministry Team, PCCs and churchwardens to further our work of ‘Growing in God’.

We offer the opportunity to make a significant difference in this area of South Suffolk (where no pastoral reorganization is currently planned) with a commitment to sustain you and respect your family and personal life. Administrative support is provided through an experienced Benefice Administrator and the accommodation offered is a comfortable, detached five-bedroomed house near the centre of Nayland.

We trust that details set out in our Benefice Profile and Role Description will prove sufficiently attractive for you to proceed with further exploration of this role and to make an application.

Closing date: 23 August 2021 Interview date: 7/8 September 2021
