We are seeking a new Vicar at St Matthew's Chapel Allerton

Chapel Allerton is a vibrant community, attractive as a place to live to a whole range of
people including families.

The church has a good relationship with the adjacent St. Matthew’s Church of England (Aided) School.

As part of the deployment strategy for the Leeds Episcopal Area, we are
looking to appoint a full-time priest who, building on previous work, can lead St. Matthew’s
into growth and, in time, the possibility of resourcing other churches in north Leeds.

Our new Vicar should be someone:

  • with a desire to spread God's love in a an open and inclusive church community
  • drive, determination and energy to recognise opportunities for change and growth
  • who is purposeful and diligent in prayer and able to engage deeply and seriously with the word of God
  • able to communication new ideas effectively with humour and enthusiasm, and provide enthusiastic leadership and direction for the future development of St Matthew's Church
  • is a good leader, facilitator and enabler, with patience and empathy, able to approach, inspire confidence and recognise talents in others
  • be warm, approachable, and happy to be involved in the social life of the church
  • be willing to be involved with the church primary school and be part of the governing body
  • be able to maintain and develop existing ecumenical relationships with other local churches and faiths
  • be keen to support and encourage Junior Church, Scramblers, SMASH, Teddy Praise and develop the Community Cafe
  • able to provide spiritual challenge and guidance, respond to the changing demographic and challenge us to be more creative in reachin out to the local community
  • able to lead the church into growth
