St Annes on Sea
Office Holder

St Anne’s is a strong and healthy Parish located at the heart of the seaside town of St Anne’s on the Fylde Coast. A strong tradition of generous, pastoral ministry has meant that the Church plays a key role in a settled community and they seek a priest who will delight in a ministry of presence whilst actively seeking opportunities for further growth.

The large Church Primary school will be an important focus for ministry. The Catholic and Choral traditions of the Parish mean that worship is dignified, Eucharistic and confidently Anglican. The Parish seeks a priest who will develop the many strengths of the Parish, build up lay leaders, expand ministry to families and grow the congregation in accordance with the Diocesan Vision 2026.

St Anne’s is a Parish of the Society of St Wilfrid and St Hilda and the PCC has submitted a Letter of Request under the House of Bishop’s Declaration. Pastoral and sacramental care is therefore delegated to the Bishop of Burnley.

The candidate will:

  • Delight in the Eucharistic tradition of the Parish and seek to draw new people to Jesus Christ in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Help the Parish to find fresh vision and direction following the challenges of the Covid pandemic.
  • Develop the Parish as a key centre for role-modelling generous and hospitable Catholic life on the Fylde coast and beyond.
  • Help the Parish to work towards its identified goals which include: placing mission at the top of the agenda, developing children’s church and youth ministry, opening up the church building and establishing a pastoral care team.
  • Achieve the above by continuing to grow the faith and develop the gifts of an enthusiastic laity
  • Maintain and further develop the strong relationship that exists with the church primary school
  • Sustain and develop strong links across a close-knit and well-defined community and develop opportunities presented by the occasional offices and the Parish’s civic profile.
  • Engage with and support a wide range of church-based activities (choir, servers, bellringers, uniformed groups etc)

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have a burning desire to serve the Lord Jesus and his people and strong belief in the power of prayer.
  • Be nurtured in the Catholic faith and maintain high standards of inspiring worship.
  • Be a good pastor: sociable and friendly and with a sense of humour
  • Take a delight in ministry to schools and children and have a proven track record in this area
  • Be a clear and accessible communicator and preacher, able to bring the faith alive to people all ages
