The Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership was set up in 2017 with the mission to ‘develop inspirational leaders who are called, connected, committed to deliver the Church of England vision for education’. Since then, it has operated a wide range of leadership development programmes, networks, research, conference and events, and published a range of key leadership resources to equip school leaders at every level to put their vision into practice.

Part of this provision has been as a very successful national provider of the current National Professional Qualification (NPQ) framework, working with over 500 leaders at National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) level across the country. As the Foundation continues to grow and expand, we are seeking to further build our capacity to design and deliver such programmes, including the new suite of NPQ programmes. NPQ delivery will be in partnership with the Catholic Education Service. Across both organisations, this represents 6791 schools (around 34% of the sector).

We are looking for an outstanding Marketing and Digital Officer who will support the promotion of the leadership programmes, as well as managing web content and our digital platform to ensure that they meet the needs of our audiences.

With a deep understanding of effective digital marketing campaigns through a variety of media and a passion for digital marketing and strategy, you will enhance the promotion of leadership programmes and ensure that the Foundation’s website and digital learning platform meet the needs of our audiences.

The Role

Marketing and Communications

  • Preparing and distributing fortnightly newsletters to programme partners and participants, and school leaders
  • Creating and managing email-based marketing campaigns to support programme recruitment
  • Organising a series of online webinars to engage with potential participants
  • Administering social media accounts and paid for advertising to maximise engagement and increase website traffic
  • Reporting on the effectiveness of all communication and marketing activities
  • Using design templates to produce additional marketing materials, e.g., flyers, social media posts, display boards and email updates
  • Ensuring that the Programmes Team adhere to branding styles/templates (in line with DfE guidelines) in all marketing and learning materials
  • Ensuring that the website is regularly updated providing easy access to all participants, providers and programme facilitators

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Learning Management System (LMS) Support

  • Supporting the programmes team and external delivery partners to effectively use our Salesforce CRM system to support the marketing of leadership programmes
  • Supporting our programme leads, coaches and facilitators to effectively use the Blackboard Learning Management System to communicate with participants
  • Moderating online discussion forums within the Learning Management System

Filming and Photography

  • Curating our bank of video marketing content, e.g., participant quotes and case studies for use in marketing materials
  • Filming and editing interviews, guest speakers, and presentations to support content design for our leadership development programmes
  • Generating and maintaining a bank of on-brand photos and images which can be used by programme designers

The Requirements



  • A deep understanding of effective digital marketing campaigns through a variety of media
  • Strong and creative digital design skills
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
  • Strong knowledge of CRM systems (such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics etc.)


  • Creating digital marketing materials using software (such as In Design, Adobe Creative Suite etc.)
  • Increasing website effectiveness using SEO and the use of analytics to report on effectiveness
  • Running social media marketing campaigns across a range of platforms
  • Writing adverts based on keyword optimisation
  • Using CRM for communication and marketing

  • Degree level Qualifications (or equivalent)

This post will require a enhanced DBS check.



  • Advanced qualifications in communications and/ or marketing


  • Basic film-making and editing skills
  • Basic audio editing/podcasting skills


  • Experience of working with a Learning Management System (such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle etc.)
