The Diocese of Portsmouth is one of 42 Church of England dioceses in the country, and is made up of 11,000 worshippers in 139 parishes across south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and divided into seven deaneries each of which co-ordinates the mission and ministry of parishes in their area.

**The Honorarium is for £500 per day, 10 days a year (70 hours)**

The Diocese of Portsmouth is now seeking to appoint a voluntary Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP) to work with the Diocesan Bishop, the senior staff team, the Diocesan Safeguarding team and DSAP members to provide effective leadership to the DSAP and ensure its advisory and scrutiny functions are carried out effectively in line with House of Bishop Policy and Practice Guidance..

Travel expenses in accordance the Diocesan procedures can be claimed for travel to and from home to diocesan offices and as you fulfil your role and any additional travel that has been agreed as part of your role.

This post is subject to a clear enhanced DBS check.

Key Purpose of the Role

To provide effective leadership to the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP). To work with the Diocesan Bishop, the senior staff team, the Diocesan Safeguarding team and panel members to ensure the DSAP’s advisory and scrutiny functions are carried out effectively.
