The Benefice of Kempston, The Church of the Transfiguration is part of the Diocese of St Albans and it is an enormously valued and valuable member of the Diocesan family. The Bishop of St Albans and I expect its distinctive witness to continue, flourish and develop under the guidance of its new Vicar.

This is a congregation that needs imaginative, yet supportive leadership as it engages with the community of Kempston. There is the opportunity to build partnerships with local organisations, schools and activities. You will build on the good will and faithfulness of the congregation, as you lead them out of lock-down into a confident future where they reach out to all-ages.

This is a Benefice which has affirmed and been blessed by the contribution of ordained women in public ministry, and the Diocese looks for this approach to continue.

We are seeking a Vicar

  • who is a committed and engaging leader with a sense of humour, who is able to equip and enable us in mission

  • who will help us develop and broaden the use of our buildings and raise the profile of the Transfiguration in the community
  • who will lead our post-Covid-19 recovery, both on-site and on-line.
