Office Holder

St Peter’s is a single-church benefice located just outside Blackburn on the edge of the beautiful Ribble Valley. The picturesque building in the Arts and Crafts style is home to a committed and faithful congregation with a variety of worship styles serving all ages, with a strong musical tradition and a licensed lay minister in post. The church has a strong partnership with its aided primary school and close relations with Wilpshire Methodist Church in the parish.

We seek a vicar who will:

  • Teach, inspire and motivate us with an infectious love of God and his word, helping us to grow in numbers, faith and mission.
  • Embrace the diversity of our congregation with choral, contemporary and traditional styles of worship to reach young and old.
  • Develop the working relationship with the Clergy and people of the Parish of Wilpshire Methodist Church.
  • Take the lead in bringing the Church to the wider community of Salesbury.
  • Have passion and enthusiasm for developing existing and establishing new links with young people and families, involving them in the life of the Church and being aware of the issues of everyday modern life.
  • Be seen and be easily recognisable around the village as vicar of the Parish and become quickly known and respected by the wider community.
  • Work closely with the School and regularly lead worship in school.
  • Develop the building to modernise facilities and enable a varied pattern of use at the heart of the community.
  • Help in becoming a Dementia Friendly Church

The parish seeks a leader who will love and care for our church and its family, and help us fulfil our potential. We are looking for someone with energy, enthusiasm and a wise head on their shoulders to steer us through the challenges of the coming years. In line with Blackburn Diocese’s Vision 2026 we are keen to make disciples, be witnesses, grow leaders and inspire children and young people for Jesus Christ.
