Founded relatively recently, in 1927, the Diocese of Portsmouth combines very diverse communities, ranging from densely populated and relatively deprived city and coastal areas to affluent rural areas. With 172 churches and 139 parishes we have weekly worshippers of around 14,000 and are supporting 41 Church of England schools and 4 academies.
The Isle of Wight is a single deanery and Archdeaconry, covering 59 church communities. The new combination of churches - Newport and Carisbrooke together with Gatcombe - provides an opportunity to celebrate the strengths of the old parishes and build new opportunities for mission.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 1st April 2021.
The interviews for this post will be held on Thursday 15th April 2021.
