Vicar of Christ Church, Milton (next Gravesend).
Check out our website http://www.christchurchgravesend.org.uk for details of worship (Sung Eucharist; robed choir) and activities.
Christ Church is an inclusive, diverse and vibrant community where everyone can be assured of acceptance and friendship. We take seriously the sharing of the Good News of Jesus and care deeply for our neighbours in this mainly residential parish.
A priority for our new Vicar will be to set out a Mission Action Plan for the next 3 years, including building our church's future and making us a welcoming place for all (with no exceptions!) and building on our digital presence.
A prayerful leader, comfortable to lead traditional styles of worship, but with the confidence and imagination to consider different styles and forms.
Supportive of the current strong and varied music tradition.
Able to work collaboratively with the Ministry Team and neighbouring clergy in the Cluster.
Happy to fully support our work with children and young people, which we see as a priority.
Able to renew and strengthen links with local schools.
[Interviews will be held on Monday 18th January]
We are part of the East Gravesend Cluster of Churches, benefiting from links with our neighbouring benefices of St Aidan's and Holy Family w St Margaret Ifield. Sunday service pattern is: 8am Said HC; 10am Sung HC followed by refreshments (USA 76). Once a month the main service is a more informal HC attended by the Uniformed Groups. There is a monthly BCP Evensong at 4pm led by a Lay Minister. MP is said on Mondays and Saturdays, EP on Wednesdays, and there is a Wednesday morning HC service.
There are a number of opportunities for outreach through the Occasional Offices (44 baptisms, 6 weddings and 19 funerals took place during 2019). The local pre-school has a short act of worship in church twice a month.
