Is God calling you to your next challenge?
Do you have a passion for rural mission?
Can you help us to put children and young people at the heart of who we are and what we do?
In the Diocese of Truro we are seeking the next Archdeacon of Bodmin. The successful candidate will join the leadership team as we enter a new chapter of God’s story in this beautiful and richly historic place, with our new strategic vision, The Saints’ Way, forming the foundation of our work over the coming years.
As one of two archdeacons in the Diocese, you will have responsibility for the six deaneries in the east and north of Cornwall, and oversee a major diocese-wide portfolio as Director of Intergenerational Church.
You will be an imaginative and pastorally gifted priest and leader with significant parish experience, and have the gifts, skills and passion necessary to enable the clergy and people of Cornwall to nurture and create flourishing churches at the heart of each community.
Committed to fostering both spiritual and numerical growth, you will be able to relate confidently and comfortably across the broad range of church traditions of the diocese. You will have a personable, prayerful, collaborative, and inclusive approach, but be able to take and implement tough decisions, while exercising your management and leadership responsibilities professionally and sensitively. Dealing with, and resolving, complex problems and conflict will be one of your key skills, as will be your capacity for understanding and generosity.
We welcome applications from all, however we particularly encourage applications from women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, and those with disabilities, as these groups are under-represented at a senior level in the organisation.
The Diocese of Truro includes over 300 churches in more than 200 parishes
across the whole of Cornwall (plus two in Devon) and the Isles of Scilly, an area of
1,370 sq miles. The diocese is divided into 12 deaneries split into
two archdeaconaries. The 16th Bishop of Truro is the Rt Revd Philip Mounstephen
who took up his seat in Truro Cathedral in January 2019.
The closing date for applications is midday 23 November, with online interviews on Wednesday 9 December.
