Trigg Major

The Deanery of Trigg Major is seeking to establish an innovative, collegial team of clergy who will minister alongside lay and self-supporting clergy across the deanery. Three stipendiary clergy will form the core of the team, each ministering in rural and town parishes. We are seeking to appoint a colleague to work alongside the Rural Dean and Priest in Charge of the central parishes of the deanery.

The Deanery Plan has drawn up a completely new pattern of ministering which will entail each stipendiary priest having charge of their own cluster of rural parishes, as well as serving in the Team Ministry in Launceston town.

If you are inspired by the idea of contributing to the forging of a team of lay and ordained ministers, committed to working together in a uniquely collegial manner to serve the communities in and around Launceston, then read on!

The post holder will be the incumbent in the southern rural benefice and a team vicar in Launceston itself (this will entail having oversight of St Thomas church and Tregadillett LEP). The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience in rural and town ministry
  • Have successfully collaborated with lay and ordained colleagues
  • Be enthusiastic about growing the church and its place in our community
  • Have fresh ideas to bring energy and vision

You will need to apply via the Pathways application, and also write a letter explaining

  • How your sense of calling to this post relates to the content of the Bishop’s letter in the Statement of Needs
  • Which area of deanery responsibility (see role details) you would feel particularly called to, and what skills and experiences you would bring to that.

This will need to be emailed to
