Do you wish to continue your service to God within a new Benefice and Team Ministry that is waiting to be blessed by your ministry and to have your ministry blessed in turn?

The newly formed West Sevenoaks Team Ministry is seeking to grow together in love, develop in exciting ways its ministry and mission and reach out in service to its communities.

Located in Sevenoaks, Kent, with beautiful countryside on the doorstep yet close to London, the Team brings together the three parishes of St Mary (Kippington), St Mary the Virgin (Riverhead with Dunton Green) and St Luke (Sevenoaks). The newly appointed Team Rector is based at St Mary (Kippington).

We are now seeking to appoint two new Team Vicars, one of whom will be part-time (3 days/week plus Sunday duties), based at St Luke’s and the other full-time and based at St Mary the Virgin, Riverhead.

St Luke's, Sevenoaks

The parish of St Luke’s is part of the newly formed West Sevenoaks Team, with St Mary Kippington & St Mary Riverhead with Dunton Green.

A geographically small parish, St Luke’s includes several key locations including Sevenoaks District Council Offices, the main railway station, and Emily Jackson care home. It is one of three parishes in the centre of Sevenoaks, the others being St Nicholas’ and St John’s.

We have good connections within the town and our worship follows a mid-Anglican tradition, attracting a congregation from a wide area.

Further information can be found on our website at: https://www.stlukes-sevenoaks.org.uk/

Our mission statement is: "We are working to become the people God wants us to be, striving to live the Gospel in the centre of Sevenoaks"

We would welcome the gifts of a new incumbent to help us in our journey towards achieving that Vision and to grow in the following ways. We invite you to come and explore it with us:

  • Encouraging all people to grow in their journey in faith.
  • Nurturing the Christian growth of children, young people and families.
  • Sustaining fellowship and pastoral care through all stages of life.
  • Maintaining our strong musical tradition and finding ways to encourage new participation while ensuring our worship is relevant to everyone.
  • Provoking theological reflection and action on the connection between the Gospel and the modern world.
  • Continuing to be a welcoming Church but also develop new ways of taking our welcome outside of the church door, building and maintaining relationships in the town and community.

What we offer:

  • We are a friendly and welcoming congregation and community.
  • Our church is central in the Anglican tradition and has a strong choral tradition.
  • The church is in good condition and in a strong financial position.
  • There is a family-sized house in central Sevenoaks.

We are looking for a vicar, who is able to work collaboratively, to support us in our vision to grow by:

  • Encouraging all people to grow in their journey in faith.
  • Nurturing the Christian growth of children, young people and families.
  • Sustaining fellowship and pastoral care through all stages of life.
  • Maintaining our strong musical tradition and finding ways to encourage new participation while ensuring our worship is relevant to everyone.
  • Provoking theological reflection and action on the connection between the Gospel and the modern world.
  • Continuing to be a welcoming Church but also develop new ways of taking our welcome outside of the church door, building and maintaining relationships in the town and community.
