Associate Vicar, St Swithin’s Lincoln
St. Swithin’s, Lincoln is looking to appoint an associate vicar to support the development of the church as a city centre resource church in the Diocese of Lincoln. The purpose of this new initiative, funded by money from the Strategic Development Fund, is to renew the urban church in the larger urban centres of the diocese where under 1% of the population attend an Anglican church.
Since planting from HTB in 2014 with a team of 12, St. Swithin’s now has a usual Sunday attendance of over 300, runs Alpha every term in a variety of contexts from prisons to coffee shops to schools, provides over 1/3 of the food aid for Lincoln, and is planning three plants within the next five years (please see the Planting Pioneer job advert for those interested in planting opportunities).
There is much more to do as we grow to become a resourcing church and as we seek to encourage people to play their unique part to:
If you are interested, please read our profile and if you would like to talk it through, please contact the vicar, Jim Prestwood, on email@example.com or 07875476102.
The new associate vicar will support the development of St. Swithin’s, Lincoln as a Resource Church by releasing the vicar to oversee the strategic development of church planting teams from St. Swithin’s, by sharing in the leadership of St. Swithin’s and its witness in the parish, city and region it serves. In particular, this role will take a lead on discipleship - encouraging and equipping the community of St. Swithin’s to be disciple making disciples.
St. Swithin’s is looking for someone who has a vision for the city and resourcing and renewing discipleship and mission across the region it serves, with ministry experience and leadership in a large, growing church with an ability to make disciples, grow teams and develop leaders. They should be someone who can cast vision and inspire others to take steps of faith, collaborative in approach and with strong communication, preaching and teaching skills.
