St Mary's, St Thomas and St John's with St Philips are looking forward to beginning a new phase of their journey together. They are seeking an experienced priest to be their Interim Minister who will help them co-ordinate, co-operate and work more effectively together to share God's message of hope. Not just in the Churches but by helping them to increasingly look outward towards the wider community of Radcliffe. The Interim Minister will also play a vital role within the Deanery as they consider the wider Deanery Plan and the developing of larger Missional partnerships.
This post comes with a stipend and housing.
We are seeking a Minister who is:
To provide interim leadership within the Radcliffe Team of St Mary's, St Thomas and St John with St Philip's to enable the benefice to equip itself more effectively for mission, prepare the way for a future pattern of ministry and determine the kind of minister required in the long term.
To work with the Area Dean and other clergy colleagues to explore the development of a larger Mission Unit with the Radcliffe area, with the aim to ensure the long term viability of the Church within the local area.
She/he will provide good leadership that will include developing good relationships with the churchwardens and clergy of the parishes and working collaboratively with them to identify corporate mission objectives and collaborative ways of working together.
To understand a strategic review of the building requirements of the benefice and ensure buildings are fit for purpose as a resources for mission. (The significant problems at St Mary's will continue to be the responsibility of the churchwardens - assisted when necessary by the Interim Minister).
To assist the benefice towards a firm, sustainable financial footing so that it can meet all its obligations in full, including payment to the Common Fund.
By its nature the role will change and vary, therefore a flexible approach will be required.

As part of the "Fit for Mission" strategy, the Diocese encourages a flexible model of working within Deaneries, in which parishes and other expressions of church are organised for mission in a variety of "units" appropriate to their context and circumstances, with an emphasis on PARTNERSHIP. As part of this process Radcliffe and Prestwich Deanery is in the process of reflecting on how we can do things differently moving into the future.
The Deanery of Radcliffe and Prestwich is currently in the process of developing a new Deanery Mission Action Plan which will take into account individual Parish Mission Action Plans, but will also include a review of our resources; in particular the deployment of clergy readers and authorised ministers and our buildings.
The parishes of the Radcliffe Team are looking for someone who will enable them to become a proper functioning Missional Partnership and to enable them to creatively and imaginatively work together.
As the Radcliffe Team were are looking to be able to increasingly help the churches to work together with an Upward Focus; God centred Inward Focus; developing and releasing all member ministry and an Outward Focus; with a realisation of the great opportunities and great needs of the area and willing to push the churches to be mindful of both the great commandment and the great commission as imperatives, in order to ensure that we have a worshipping, growing and transformative Christian presence at the heart of every community.
The Interim Minister will also be expected to play a part in the wider Deanery development, which my include a larger Missional Partnership with neighbouring Churches. It is an exciting time to be joining the Radcliffe and Prestwich Deanery and the Diocese of Manchester.
