Whalley Abbey Centre for Prayer and Discipleship is set in the stunning grounds and ruins of a 14th century Cistercian Abbey. On the banks of the river Calder in the beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley, but with easy access to motorway and rail networks

Belonging to the Church of England Diocese of Blackburn, the Centre for Prayer and Discipleship located in the grounds continues to provide high quality, welcoming hospitality

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond efficiently and politely to guest and visitor enquiries
  • Assist with the arrival and departure of guests
  • Assist with service of food
  • Carry out basic general maintenance and repairs across the whole site
  • Movement of furniture and equipment as required
  • Preparation and cleaning of meeting rooms
  • Assist with the honesty bar when needed and movement of stock
  • Ensure messages for colleagues are recorded
  • Maintain security of the whole Abbey site, in particular the House
  • To act as Fire Marshal, ensuring all fire safety and evacuation procedures are followed
  • To provide First Aid cover
  • Health and Safety to report all potential and real hazards to the Manager
  • Have a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken at the Abbey
  • Maintain good working relations with all Abbey staff
  • Any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the whole
  • Abbey site, including work in other departments
