This is an exciting opportunity to join a group of vibrant and diverse churches, who have a passion and vision to see God’s kingdom grow.

The Cockermouth Area Team is a benefice, consisting of 4 churches: two in the town itself

and two in outlying villages.

The Grasmoor Mission Community includes a further seven Anglican Churches, two Methodist Churches and a United Reformed Church, and covers Cockermouth and nearby villages.

Cockermouth Area Team is in the Grasmoor Mission Community.

The Team has two towns and two village churches with a combined Electoral Roll of 250. We have a Team Vicar, four readers, three retired clergy, and several lay ministers, including two ordinands.

The role is to lead us, sharing our hope in God, you need to be:

  • a prayerful, confident, visionary, enthusiastic and collegiate leader.
  • alive in Jesus, Spritir-filled and grounded in Scripture.
  • able to foster our ecumenical partnerships and engage with local communities, both civic and rural.

The Cockermouth Area Team is looking for a Team Rector and Mission Community Leader who is:

  • A good pastoral and a good listener.
  • Has energy and enthusiasm, is confident and has hope for the future.
  • Is missional and who engages with people who do not come to church.
  • Is spiritually mature, prayerful and grounded in Scripture.
  • Is able to cope well with a range of worship styles and churchmanship.
  • Is willing to listen to others, a strong collegiate leader, who can make difficult decisions where necessary; who discerns and encourages the vocations and ministry of others.
  • is an encourager and facilitator, enabler and nurturer, able to support and train others and grow disciples and keen to promote continued teaching across the GMC (e.g. the series of Ministry Development Days)

We are not looking for the perfect person, but we are looking for someone who is:
