Could you be the next Priest-in-Charge of St Mary's Greenhithe and St Peter & St Paul, Swanscombe?
Having initially advertised this post as Priest-in-Charge of St Mary's, Greenhithe, a change in circumstances has meant that we are now able to bring forward plans to broaden the scope of this post to encompass that of Priest-in-Charge of St Peter & St Paul, Swanscombe. The new Priest-in-Charge will live at the Rectory in Swanscombe, details of which can be found in the attached profile.
St Mary's, Greenhithe is a Spirit-led and Bible based, community engaged church. The congregation covers a wide age range and includes members from different racial and cultural backgrounds, with a predominance of families, particularly young families, reflecting the local population. Within our services there is a respect for liturgical forms of worship, with a sense of freedom and flexibility.
Greenhithe was once a small, rural village but is now a growing urban development situated between Gravesend and Dartford and on the edge of Ebbsfleet Garden City.Swanscombe is a small town, with a village feel, in the Borough of Dartford, which sits at the geographic centre of the regeneration initiatives for the Ebbsfleet Garden City.
We are looking for a person who is Spirit led, prayerful, caring and a team player, and most importantly has a sense of humour! You should be able to work well with people from all walks of life both inside and outside of the church family. St Mary's, Greenhithe has a strong connection with New Wine and is looking for someone who will embrace this.
As well as all the 'normal' Priestly duties, St Mary's, Greenhithe would like their Priest-in-Charge to be involved in the Community Cafe, community events and the Mary's Child charity, which is run from this church in conjunction with other local churches.
St Peter & St Paul, Swanscombe has a loyal and faithful community-focused worshipping community, who look forward to welcoming a new Priest-in-Charge who is enthusiastic about their faith, understands the joys and complexities of working with a developing community and is comfortable working with people from a traditional background, as well as those looking for a fresh approach in both community and worship.
In return, St Mary’s Greenthithe can offer you an enthusiastic ministry team, comprising of 2 Church Wardens, 2 LLM's, a deputy Church Warden and a Pastoral Assistant, as well as a supportive PCC. St Peter & St Paul Swanscombe can offer an Associate Priest and supportive PCC. Both parishes share a Youth Worker. There are welcoming congregations in both parishes who will encourage you and offer hospitality and friendship. There is also a 4 bedroom house at Swanscombe, with a mature garden and several fruit trees.
