This is an exciting time in the diocese, with the launch of the vision of a Transforming Church, Transforming Lives in 2016 leading to significant new missional energy in many of our churches, chaplaincies and schools.

Over the past two years we have brought together our diocesan teams into fresh, open plan offices on the University of Surrey Research Park, and embarked on a major review of the services we offer ensuring that Church House Guildford is genuinely providing servant leadership in support of focused activity in our parishes

As Parish Co-ordination Team Lead, your skills will be key to helping us develop and support our services and processes to fulfil these strategic goals, as well as to ensure strong and effective leadership of our new Parish Co-ordination Team. This is a hands-on and busy role reporting into the Deputy Diocesan Secretary and supported by a small team.

  • To lead and manage the work of the Parish Coordination Team: in coordinating support for parishes and deaneries in the embedding of Transforming Church, Transforming Lives.
  • To own the processes and operation of the Parish Coordination Team, delivering its services to agreed quality and timescales, and ensuring they remain best fit for delivering the PCT service.
  • To support the scheduling and operation of the parish needs-based process;
  • To signpost enquiries to services and resources;
  • To allocate engagements to Mission Enablers;
  • To track and report on the provision of CHG services.

  • A good level of education to diploma level or equivalent


  • Degree level or equivalent



  • Strong experience of leading and managing a team to deliver consistent, high quality, customer-focused services to agreed service levels.
  • Experience of establishing and leading an effective customer service support operation with associated reporting
  • Experience of the management, tracking and recording of customer information so that it can be used for service management decision making
  • Experience of building, nurturing and developing teams
  • Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with parishes, other departments and external organisations
  • Negotiating effective resolutions to situations involving multiple stakeholders


  • Working in a charity environment
  • Experience of working with volunteers



  • Good knowledge of the diocesan mission strategy Transforming Church, Transforming Lives
  • Good knowledge of the Church of England and the Diocese of Guildford


  • An understanding of parish life, its opportunities and challenges.

The Diocese of Guildford includes significant areas of Surrey and Hampshire and creeps into West Sussex and one of the London Boroughs.

Transforming Church, Transforming Lives is the vision of the Diocese of Guildford, launched in September 2016 following a long period of prayer and consultation. It envisages individuals and church communities open to the transforming work of God’s Spirit in their own lives, and so becoming agents of Christ’s transformation to the world around them.

Transforming Church, Transforming Lives is a framework not a blueprint, encouraging a thousand local initiatives to work towards our broader shared goals. It is primarily a strategy for the local church, though many of its principles are being extended to groups of churches, network congregations, chaplaincies and church schools.
